Dude for a start I really need to see a proper numerical order-only joking-it's a great list.

I'm with you on Zomby, Animal Collective & 2562.

I found Tortoise slightly difficult but I can see why it's included.

Bibio, Grizzly Bear & Dorian Concept would certainly have been in my top 30 had it been extended.

Mike Slott just got so hard to say the others I really need to check out.

Definitely some overlap with my list. A lot of these I'm just starting to listen to though so I don't know well they rank for me e.g. Mike Slott. His singles are fantastic though. Don't get the hype for Peter Broderick. The Ben Frost, Bibio, and Grizzly Bear records are excellent.

Firstly have to say I'm chuffed to see Nils Frahm here - A new, real talent on the scene and easily one of the best albums of the year! I expect more great things from him... when I do my list you'll see the few similarities but I'm most surprised to see the Balmorhea album here - it never stuck with me mostly due to the more rocky elements.. maybe I'll revisit but I found the remix album more successful. I'm gonna pick up that Zomby from Boomkat in the next few minutes as its hit alot of lists. How would you say this year has been? Alot have been saying it hasn't been a strong year for releases but I'm pretty happy with my haul!.. and it looks like you've had a bit more of an electronic year too!? Not so much indie rock here?

My conclusion to this year of music is that there has been a consistency of likable releases, with some surprises, but not so many standouts or genre creating albums. Also, on the whole I think guitar / rock based music has taken a back seat with all the eighties inspired stuff that's going around - Korg is king once more.

Its been the year of the synthesis - genres are slowly become blurred, less pigeon holed, which is no bad thing really... More please ;o)

Excellent list Leigh!

There's quite a few I've missed - like: lonely island, torngat. dirty projectors, and heather woods broderick - which I will definately try to check out soon.

Forgot that the Akron Family album came out last year, it's a really good album.

Hope you have a lovely New Year x
